Be brave, try something new

August 05, 2014 2 min read

Just because you’re on your period doesn’t mean that you need to take it easy from your normal routine. While wearing a Lunette menstrual cup you can pretty much participate in any activity that you would do any other day. Even when your menstrual flow is at the heaviest!

Yoga

Practicing yoga is a great way to reduce menstrual discomfort! When your menstrual cup is inserted properly you can focus less on your flow and more on your practice.

Dance

Dance your heart out! Unlike pads (that can feel like a wet diaper when your sweaty) the Lunette menstrual cup comfortably keeps your period under control internally. Even with vigorous exercise your cup should stay snugly in place. Plus you don’t have to worry about that funky smell that pads can have after several hours of use. Gross!

Swim...or snorkel!

Swim with confidence and forget about the possibility of that wet string hanging out of your swimsuit bottoms. The menstrual cup is worn internally so only you will know you’re on your period. Wearing a menstrual cup for underwater activities is safe and sanitary.

Go to Africa- or travel anywhere there is access to clean water!

Is your menstrual cycle unpredictable? Don’t waste any of your travel time searching for products for your period. Simply throw in your Lunette menstrual cup in your bag and you’re off! The cup takes up less space in your luggage than a pair of rolled up socks! And if you’re in a place where water isn’t so handy- Lunette makes portable, compostable, disinfecting wipes for easy care on the road.

  • The average person spends about $48-84 per year on disposable menstrual products. Lunette is a one time cost that will last for years.

  • If you can menstruate, you can use a menstrual cup. Even young users can use Lunette and virginity is not an obstacle for usage of a menstrual cup. (We recommend the smaller Lunette menstrual cup, the size 1 for younger users.)

  • Using the menstrual cup is environmentally friendly. No accumulation of plastic applicators and wrappers.

  • The Lunette menstrual cup is as easy to use as a non-applicator tampon. Simply fold and insert!

  • You can wear the Lunette menstrual cup for up to 12 hours. That’s longer than a super absorbency tampon!

  • There have been no reported cases of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) associated with the use of menstrual cups.

  • It’s discreet. You can keep it tucked away in your bag and it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. Not to mention you won’t be leaving a paper trail of wrappers behind.

  • The silicone design of Lunette menstrual cups is hygienic since it naturally discourages the growth of bacteria. The risk of infection is much less than that of tampons or pads.

  • It’s easy to use. Wash, fold, hold, insert, remove and rinse. Reuse!

We want you to try Lunette foryourself and this week, we will be giving away a Lunette Menstrual Cup plus a 4-Pack of LooHoos to 2 lucky winners

Giveaway starts Thursday, August 7.

I’ve never used a menstrual cup. I didn’t find out about them until I got pregnant. I am 13 weeks postpartum now, and I haven’t gotten my cycle yet. As soon as it returns (hopefully not for a while) I plan on trying Lunette.

I have 2 cups, but haven’t tried Lunette. I’ve only used the Diva cup and find it a bit long. Cups are all different sizes (and so are women), so if one doesn’t work, it is good to try a different type to see if it’s a better fit.

I started back in February 2004. I remember because I was leaving North Bay for a teaching practicum back home. I bought a DivaCup at the natural store there and used it that week. It was a bit of a disaster because I needed to empty it so often and didn’t realize I would have to. Oh well, I made it work and never looked back. I bought a size 2 when my first daughter was born in 2007.
